11
:So every week I promised to
deliver a piping hot tea time sesh.
12
:And this week is no exception.
13
:So today we are going to be spilling
the tea about the dare to be
14
:iconic mindset, so you can start
living your most iconic life yet.
15
:So, what the heck is the
Dare to Be Iconic mindset?
16
:How do you get there so you can start
living your most iconic life yet?
17
:Your tea time sesh is starting now.
18
:Let's start with what the heck
is the Dare to be Iconic mindset.
19
:So the Dare to be Iconic mindset
is based off of four pillars.
20
:So we have trust, confidence,
determination, and authenticity.
21
:Now, the dare to be iconic mindset
is not a one and done type deal.
22
:It is a continuous process that you
have to work on myself included.
23
:I am not perfect by any means, and I am
still actively working on this as well.
24
:As many of you know, if you are
following the Dare to be Iconic
25
:blog, my word for 2024 is trust.
26
:And oh my god, the journey of trust
has been, has been an interesting one.
27
:Everything I have done this year relates
back to trust in one way or another,
28
:and I didn't realize how prevalent
this theme of trust would really be in
29
:my life, but oh my god, it's insane.
30
:So let's start with trust.
31
:I think it is this wild concept that we
can so easily trust others, but then not
32
:give ourselves that same trust in return.
33
:And if you're new here, I
definitely have trust issues.
34
:I am the first person to admit
that I have trust issues.
35
:I definitely do, which is why I wanted
trust to be my word for this year.
36
:Because it's so prevalent
to everything in my life.
37
:And I believe in order to keep
going on this dare to be iconic
38
:journey with you guys, I need to
start trusting myself more, right?
39
:It's to honor that commitment of
choosing myself that I had last year.
40
:Last year was 2023.
41
:It was that year of me.
42
:I did everything for myself.
43
:I chose myself first.
44
:So in order to continue
honoring that commitment.
45
:I have to start trusting myself and man,
is that a lot harder than I expected.
46
:I did not expect it to be this
hard, but this is what I've
47
:learned so far about trust.
48
:I somehow can't trust myself fully still.
49
:No matter how much I prove to myself
that I am fully capable of doing it.
50
:everything I've set my mind to,
I still am missing this part
51
:of fully trusting myself 100%.
52
:And maybe I won't ever get there, right?
53
:To that 100 percent completion.
54
:And maybe that's okay.
55
:Maybe I'm not supposed to trust
myself 1, 000%, or even 100%,
56
:let me not get crazy here.
57
:But maybe I'm not supposed to have it
100 percent figured out with trust.
58
:Maybe trust is supposed to always be
this like continuous journey for me.
59
:Like maybe that's the whole
point of trust, right?
60
:That it's ever evolving and that
you're not always going to have it a
61
:thousand percent figured out all the
time because it's like, you can't.
62
:People will break your trust and you
will break your trust within yourself.
63
:And sometimes you have to break
yourself down to bring yourself back up.
64
:And maybe that's the
same concept with trust.
65
:So how the heck do I
start trusting myself?
66
:I think it's by continuing to take that
risk on myself and taking that leap
67
:of faith and trusting that everything
will be okay, which in turn relates to
68
:determination, which is one of the other
pillars in the Dare to be Iconic mindset.
69
:Now determination, I have down pat.
70
:If there is one thing about me, is
if I say I'm gonna do something, I'm
71
:gonna find a way to make it happen.
72
:Point blank and period.
73
:It's either I'm going to find the
action steps to make it happen.
74
:I'm going to find the people that
I need to connect with to make
75
:it happen, or it's going to be a
beautiful combination of the two.
76
:But either way, I have
always been determined and
77
:maybe that leans into trust.
78
:Maybe those two go hand in hand.
79
:I mean, honestly, when I was coming
up with the Dare to be Iconic mindset,
80
:because I think these four pillars:
trust, authenticity, determination,
81
:and confidence all go together so
well, but maybe determination and trust
82
:really do go hand in hand together.
83
:Because in order to take that risk on
yourself and take that leap of faith, you
84
:have to be determined to reach your goals.
85
:You have to be determined to not
care what other people say about you.
86
:Which, in turn, also
connects to authenticity.
87
:My next point.
88
:You have to embrace who you are a
thousand percent and keep being authentic
89
:to you and to whatever room you step
into, which then goes into confidence.
90
:We have to be comfortable and
confident in our authentic, or
91
:as I like to say, iconic selves.
92
:When we present ourselves to the
world, when we take that leap of
93
:faith and that risk on ourselves, that
it's all going to work out because.
94
:In turn, deep down, we trust ourselves.
95
:Man, maybe I figured out
the recipe right here.
96
:Maybe it just took me talking
to you guys to figure it out.
97
:It's probably that, to be honest with you.
98
:But my whole entire point with
the Dare to Be Iconic mindset
99
:is that it's ever evolving.
100
:That we are continuously working on
it because you can't be a hundred and
101
:thousand percent done and finished
like that's not that's not true It's
102
:just like healing right healing is
this continuous roller coaster journey.
103
:There's ups, downs, twists, and turns
but you know We got to stay on that path
104
:of the roller coaster because that's
just how healing is and that's the same
105
:thing with the Dare to be Iconic mindset.
106
:We have to keep working towards these
four pillars have to keep going into
107
:this ever evolving process because
we, as humans, as individuals,
108
:are ever evolving and changing.
109
:We're not just one thing.
110
:We are multi faceted, multi
dimensional beings on this earth.
111
:I think we have to accept that we're
not always going to be perfect in it.
112
:The journey is not always
going to be smooth sailing.
113
:It's not.
114
:Trust me.
115
:Let me give you guys an example of
the Dare to be Iconic mindset in
116
:my life and how it's ever evolving.
117
:Determination has always been
something that I've had since
118
:I was little baby Amanda.
119
:As I said beforehand, Once I set my
eyes on something, I'm going for it.
120
:Like, there is nothing holding me back.
121
:If I say, I'm gonna meet X, Y, and Z,
you best believe it's gonna happen.
122
:So, you either get on the train
with me, Or you get off, because
123
:I'm not letting anyone slow me down.
124
:I have so many dreams within that
dare to be iconic umbrella that I
125
:can not reveal yet, but they are
coming true and it's so exciting.
126
:But none of that would happen if I
wasn't determined to make it work.
127
:If I wasn't daring to make my
dreams a reality and create that
128
:own magic for myself in my life.
129
:So, determination, that's an easy
one for me to explain, but let's,
130
:let's get into confidence, shall we?
131
:I was just on a FaceTime call with
my lovely friend Dani, which you
132
:will hear me reference a lot and
we were talking about confidence.
133
:Now I'm just gonna warn you guys.
134
:When you turn 25, no one warns
you that your body will change.
135
:You think you know everything
about your body at 24?
136
:Oh my god!
137
:Joke's on you.
138
:Joke is on you.
139
:I've never been on more of a
rollercoaster with my body since
140
:I was like in middle school.
141
:When I turned 25, my eczema that
was dormant for like 7 8 years?
142
:decided to flare up.
143
:And not just like a little baby flare up.
144
:No, no.
145
:It decided to be like the worst
flare up I've ever experienced.
146
:And I think what I forgot about eczema
is how detrimental it can be to your
147
:mental health and it wrecked me.
148
:That's why I started the daring
to be confident challenge.
149
:I started that challenge because
of how low my self concept was.
150
:Because of how I saw myself
in the mirror with my eczema.
151
:It is so hard to see your body
change overnight from something
152
:that you're not used to.
153
:It messed with my self confidence and
I just felt so ugly in my skin and I
154
:felt like I didn't belong because I
I wasn't used to the body that I was
155
:seeing myself in- like, I, I wasn't
used to seeing my skin as something
156
:that I haven't seen for 7 8 years.
157
:And I didn't know how to deal with it.
158
:I didn't know how to process it mentally.
159
:And I think that's what people forget
when your body changes all of a sudden.
160
:It messes with your mind.
161
:It messes with how you see yourself.
162
:The more I was opening up to my friends
about how low my self concept was and how
163
:low mental state was because I couldn't
recognize who I was in the mirror.
164
:I realized I wasn't alone in that feeling.
165
:I realized that we were all
kind of going through it, but
166
:in our own unique way, right?
167
:We all were feeling self conscious
about some part of our body.
168
:So I was like, how can we change that?
169
:How can we collectively go on this
journey together to not only becoming
170
:our most iconic selves, but to become
more confident because that is such a key
171
:pillar to the Dare to be Iconic mindset.
172
:I think confidence not only stems
within ourselves on learning how to
173
:love ourselves, and that includes all
facets of it- loving our personality,
174
:loving our flaws, loving our
insecurities, and loving our bodies.
175
:And I know that's hard as young
women, and also men out there, to
176
:love who we are inside and out.
177
:And yes, it is an individual
journey, but it's also just
178
:as much a collective journey.
179
:Because, while we're working on
ourselves, why not bring our friends
180
:along for the ride so that we all
can succeed and be our iconic selves.
181
:So that's what I'm dealing with
in the confidence aspect of
182
:this Dare to be Iconic mindset.
183
:Alright, now let's talk
about this last one.
184
:I have gone on a very long
journey with authenticity, right?
185
:Loving exactly who I am a
thousand percent, not looking
186
:for validation in anyone else,
because I truly love who I am.
187
:But I would be lying to you if I
didn't say sometimes I do struggle
188
:with authenticity, but it may
not be in the way you think.
189
:So, if you don't follow me on Instagram,
I do this series called Tea Time with
190
:Amanda, which, fun fact, inspired this
whole Tea Time session on my podcast.
191
:And one of my Tea Times is about
how I got laid off in August
192
:of 2023 from my dream job.
193
:I was unemployed for about six
months until I secured work at a
194
:new job that I'm super happy in.
195
:I really do love it.
196
:And shout out to my boss.
197
:She's listening to this right now.
198
:You're an icon.
199
:But I secured my first big
girl, full time, like, job.
200
:Like, I get, like, like,
benefits and stuff.
201
:that's so cool.
202
:Like, what?
203
:Like, I'm an adult now.
204
:Like, that's so crazy.
205
:But anyway, I work very closely with
my boss, and the amount of times I
206
:have embarrassed myself is astounding.
207
:I genuinely don't know how
I keep doing this to myself.
208
:Now, I do pride myself in always
being authentic to who I am.
209
:I bring my iconic self everywhere I go
from that interview all the way till I
210
:was hired to now working in the company.
211
:That's great.
212
:I love that for me and I'm sure
everyone else loves it too.
213
:Cause they probably get a laugh.
214
:However, at this point, I really
think I may be a personality hire
215
:because I have a certain goal.
216
:I'm not going to reveal it on this podcast
because it's a little embarrassing, but
217
:I have a certain goal that is fueled by
delusion and confidence that honestly
218
:should be studied because this delusion
I have and the confidence I have with it
219
:that's, that is something right there.
220
:Like they, they need scientists
to study that, but it is so second
221
:nature for me to say this delusion.
222
:So it just like came out of my
mouth during one of our one on
223
:one meetings, and she laughed.
224
:And she was like, oh, you're manifesting.
225
:I was like, thanks boss and then
I like wanted to like crawl in a
226
:hole and never show my face again.
227
:I definitely sent a Snapchat to
all my girlfriends saying, you won't
228
:believe how I embarrassed myself and
we're only in, like, four weeks in.
229
:Then we get to my second
all staff meeting.
230
:And I'm literally like, okay, Amanda,
filter, like, don't say anything.
231
:And that morning, okay, like
just before, That staff meeting.
232
:I had gotten a very lovely Instagram
notification That goes hand in
233
:hand with the delusion that I
have and I was on cloud nine.
234
:I was honestly Still daydreaming
about my entire life and picturing
235
:it because that delusion was in my
head Low key coming true because
236
:something happened on Instagram.
237
:So I'm like, oh, like, maybe I won't
say anything in this meeting, like,
238
:it's okay, like, I don't need to say
anything in the icebreaker, la la la.
239
:Of course, I don't know why I said
that to myself, I love to talk.
240
:I can talk to a wall.
241
:So I decided to unmute myself.
242
:I should've just kept the mute button,
because my boss was about to talk, and
243
:I was like, oh, I don't have to go,
and she was like, oh, no, no, no, go.
244
:I should have just muted myself.
245
:I should have just muted myself because
you know what I did embarrass myself.
246
:That is absolutely correct.
247
:Everyone.
248
:I not only embarrassed myself in front
of my boss again, but to the entire team
249
:by stating my delusion full right out.
250
:Yup.
251
:It was bad.
252
:Because again, I don't have a
filter when it comes to my delusions
253
:because it's such second nature.
254
:So my whole point with that story
of embarrassment is like, yes,
255
:I am embracing my iconic self.
256
:Yes.
257
:Do I bring a little pizzazz
anywhere I go ? Absolutely.
258
:Do I probably bring the laughter?
259
:Oh, yeah.
260
:No, they're definitely laughing at me
But or maybe with me, I don't know.
261
:It's probably at me.
262
:But anyway I think maybe
we learn levels of it.
263
:I really don't know, I'm
still exploring that one.
264
:Because I'm definitely being myself.
265
:But maybe, I don't always have to
say every delusion that comes to mind.
266
:So to sum it up, I'm actively
going on this journey with you.
267
:I don't have it 100 percent figured out.
268
:The Dare to Be Iconic mindset will
always be a work in progress, but it's
269
:about how you move forward in this
collective and individual journey.
270
:These four pillars of trust, confidence,
determination, and authenticity really
271
:are the foundation of what makes Dare
to Be Iconic so, dare I say, iconic.
272
:Iconic.
273
:If you aren't constantly working on
these four pillars that I think are
274
:such constant and prevalent themes
in life, then how can you start
275
:embracing your iconic self if you
don't get down to the root of it?
276
:If you don't get down to the
root of trust, of confidence, of
277
:authenticity, and determination?
278
:So, how can you work towards embracing
this Dare to Be Iconic mindset on
279
:the daily so that you can start
living your most iconic life yet?
280
:Here are my two takeaways.
281
:One, your tribe, your tribe, your
tribe is the most important thing
282
:when you're going on this Dare to Be
Iconic journey to embrace that Dare
283
:to Be Iconic mindset so that you can
start living your most iconic life yet.
284
:It is so much about this collective
journey, you guys and I will emphasize
285
:this until I'm blue in the face,
but find your accountability buddy
286
:and go on this journey with them.
287
:A great example to start would be go
to my show notes below, follow me on
288
:Instagram and on my Instagram, there
is a pinned post for the daring to be
289
:confident challenge, where I dare you to
go on this 30 day challenge of building
290
:up your confidence with your besties.
291
:That's the trick there, because
we all are going to embrace
292
:our iconic selves together.
293
:Because again, the Dare to Be
Iconic journey is not only about
294
:the individual journey, but
about that collective journey.
295
:So let your friends be there to
support and uplift you when you
296
:need them, for them to be that hype
person, for them to be that mirror
297
:when you need it, and vice versa.
298
:And my second action step for you guys
would be to check out my journal that
299
:is linked in the show notes below.
300
:Break up with the past, fall in love
with the future, your five step guide
301
:to turning your pain into power.
302
:So this journal is basically a love
letter to your future self on starting
303
:that healing process, so you can start
embracing that dare to be iconic mindset.
304
:All right, Radiant Icons, that is
our tea time session for today.
305
:I hope you enjoyed today's episode.
306
:Now on Dare to be Iconic, we will
be bringing on everyday icons
307
:and iconic thought leaders who
are daring to be themselves.
308
:Next week, we will be spilling the tea
with my bestest friend in the entire world
309
:and our first everyday icon, Meleena.
310
:She is the creative eye behind every
picture you see on the Dare to be
311
:Iconic website, the podcast cover, and
probably half the photos on my Instagram.
312
:I trust her with my entire
life and I love her so much.
313
:And I can't wait to spill the tea
with her next week about all things,
314
:girlhood, female friendships, navigating
your twenties, all that good stuff.
315
:If you like today's episode, make
sure to leave a review, share it with
316
:your friends, and connect with me on
socials Instagram and LinkedIn, which
317
:are linked in the show notes below.
318
:And remember, radiant
icons dare to be iconic.
319
:I'll see you guys next time.
320
:Bye.
